Houston short-term rental registration

A house inside the Houston city limits needs a City of Houston short-term rental certificate of registration. The city published a $275 annual fee per property, plus any administrative fee shown in the portal. The city set January 1, 2026 as the date to have that certificate. You register the property.

Katy, Richmond, and Sealy are outside that Houston certificate. Hosts there still follow their own city rules, any HOA or deed restrictions, and hotel occupancy tax.
